Franchise X-Ray is an information and data-analysis service. We extract information from publicly available Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs), compute summary statistics from that information, and cite the source of every number.
We are not a franchise seller, franchise broker, franchise consultant, franchisor, or agent. We do not offer for sale, sell, arrange, facilitate, broker, or refer any franchise purchase. We take no commission, referral fee, or other consideration from any franchisor, franchise system, or franchise sales organization. Use of this service does not create any relationship between you and any franchisor. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by any franchisor, and no franchisor has reviewed or approved our dossiers. Nothing here is endorsed by the FTC or any state regulator.
A Franchise X-Ray dossier is an interpreted summary of information extracted from an FDD, with short quoted excerpts cited by item number and page number. It is reference material to help you prepare for conversations with your own attorney and accountant.
A dossier is NOT: legal advice, investment advice, tax advice, or financial advice. It is NOT a recommendation to buy or not buy any franchise. It is NOT a prediction of your success, earnings, or profitability. It is NOT a substitute for the complete, current FDD. It is NOT a warranty that any franchisor is solvent, legitimate, or in compliance with law.
Dossiers are compiled from FDDs as filed with state regulators or otherwise publicly available. FDDs may contain errors or omissions by the franchisor, may be stale, and may have been amended after filing. We do not independently verify the franchisor's disclosures.
Every dossier states its source, the FDD filing date, and the jurisdiction of filing. The franchisor may have amended the FDD after that date. You must obtain the current FDD directly from the franchisor and verify all facts before making any decision.
We quote short excerpts to substantiate our extraction. We never reproduce whole FDD documents.
You agree that you will not rely solely on any Franchise X-Ray dossier for any business, investment, or legal decision. You are solely responsible for:
(a) obtaining the current FDD directly from the franchisor;
(b) comparing this dossier against the franchisor's current FDD, item by item;
(c) verifying all financial, legal, and operational claims through your own investigation, including calls with current and former franchisees;
(d) consulting a licensed franchise attorney and a qualified accountant before investing;
(e) making your own investment decision.
You must be at least 18 years of age, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use this service.
All fees are stated at the time of purchase. All sales are final. We do not offer refunds or cancellations, except as required by law. Without limiting that: no refund is available because the analysis is incomplete or unfavorable, because you decide not to invest, because the franchise system is no longer of interest, or because of buyer's remorse.
If you identify an error in our extraction from the filed FDD (for example, a misquoted item), notify us in writing with the correct text and its FDD source (item, page, filing date). If we confirm the error, we will issue a corrected dossier. The corrected dossier is your sole and exclusive remedy for extraction errors. We do not promise any correction timeline and we do not warrant that any dossier is error-free.
Each dossier is licensed to you for your personal, non-commercial use only. You agree you will not:
(a) share, forward, publish, republish, or redistribute any dossier to any third party without our prior written consent;
(b) use any dossier in any franchise recruitment, marketing, prospecting, or sales process;
(c) copy, compile, or systematize data across multiple dossiers;
(d) use automated means (bots, scrapers, scripts) to access or extract data from the service.
If you breach this section, we may terminate your access immediately, seek injunctive relief, and claim actual damages resulting from the breach.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Franchise X-Ray, its officers, employees, and agents are not liable for any claims, losses, or damages arising from your business, investment, or legal decisions, including decisions made with or without reliance on a dossier. Our total liability for any claim relating to a dossier, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, will not exceed the price you paid for that specific dossier. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions this section applies to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Franchise Watch reports newly disclosed information we detect: new annual FDD filings, additions to Item 3 litigation disclosures, material outlet-count changes, and newly disclosed going-concern language. Watch is informational only. We do not independently verify or audit franchisor disclosures and we do not guarantee the timeliness or completeness of any alert. Watch does not create a fiduciary duty or an ongoing advisory relationship. Alerts describe disclosed facts in neutral terms; we do not assess their significance to your decision. You remain responsible for your own monitoring and for seeking legal advice before acting on any alert. Watch renews annually until you cancel.
Before any purchase completes, the buyer must affirmatively check:
"I understand Franchise X-Ray is not a lawyer, accountant, investment adviser, broker, or agent. This report is for informational research only and is not legal, tax, or investment advice. I will not rely on it alone to make an investment decision. I will consult my own attorney and obtain the current Franchise Disclosure Document directly from the franchisor before investing. I understand all sales are final."
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these terms will be heard in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York.
We may modify these terms at any time; continued use after modification constitutes acceptance. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. These terms constitute the entire agreement regarding the service. Contact: hello@getfranchisexray.com.
